This one went through a journey. Written before Autumn Lovers was even a concept. I kept trying to develop this into something more, but whether I wasn’t up to the task or the song didn’t want it, I don’t know. When I started thinking about this record I realised there was totally a home for this song on here for this as it is, and so “Flute Thing” became “Hawthorn”. The Mellotron flutes and wobbly synths are so thick with nostalgia, this really feels like late September mornings to me. I hope you love it.
